    NEW OLD STOCK 1973 CHOPPER

Post  thenannuccikid on Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:02 am

New old stock 1973 chopper in that orangy red colour

In 1973 a shipment of chopper bikes never made it out of the docks.............as a result lots of dockers sons were made up xmas morning when they received new bikes.

Shame but I was only 3yrs old then so as a result one was put into storage untill I was big enough. Anyway the years passed and I never got the bike but dont panic I loved my grifter.

fast forward 20 years and whilst helping to clear out garage it was re discovered buried amongst boxes with an old rolled rug on top of it. I brought it home and threw it in my garage.

the transfer around the gearstick has lifted and the wheel rims and stand have suffered surface rust from moisture................the transfer on the chain guard also has a scrape on it from something leaning on it. Tyres are also losing air after sitting for a few months.

Apart from the above its a new old stock chopper bike and the original tyres still have those little factory nodules on them.

I dont know whether its Mrk 1 or 2 etc but it has 73 stamped on the rear hub.

I was going to have the rims, stand and light bracket rechromed but realise from scooters etc that sometimes the originality of something with history adds a little something.

Theres plenty of repainted and rechromed bikes out there but cant be many like this around.

Open to serious offers and i WILL sell for the right offer.............

??? wouldnt have a clue...........is that not the norm ?

seat was down further but when I brought it to mine I extended it to ride down the driveway and back.

I can hand on heart say that the bike had untill my driveway jaunt had Never been ridden. As a 5 year old in 1975 I use to sit on it though when it was in a back bedroom.

You seem to be getting some stick on A N other chopper site.......... Have a good look on 'e' bay, spend some time comparing prices, Mk2 values have dropped, Yes it has an 'interesting' history but 'desirable' tall frames seem to be only in the mid four hundreds, Maybe a clean up and polish and put it on 'e'bay with a reserve of the minimum you are looking for and you may strike lucky.. Good luck R.V W.
